SNWA raises turf removal rebate to $2 per square foot

The Southern Nevada Water Authority has been paying people to remove grass for quite some time now and the program has been a huge success at reducing the amount of water we use in the Las Vegas Valley. The program was started in 1999 and to date has saved more than 88 BILLION gallons of water and seen the removal of over 174 million square feet of grass.

Under previous program conditions the SNWA would rebate homeowners $1.50 per sq. ft. up to the first 500 sq. ft. and $1.00 per sq. ft. after that up to a maximum of 5,000 sq. ft. after that. Under the new guidelines they are rebating a whopping $2.00 per sq. ft. all the way up to 5,000 sq. ft!!!

One of the big hurdles people have when deciding on whether or not to get rid of grass is that the amount of money being rebated wasn't enough to "make it look great" without having to come out of pocket themselves. At $2 per square foot, this is no longer a hurdle. Expensive boulders, variations of rock mulch, and unique desert plants are now within reach... WITHOUT SPENDING ONE DIME OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET!
